Vanessa Stadlbauer-Köllner

Vanessa Stadlbauer-Köllner earned her MD in 2002 from Karl-Franzens-University Graz. After completing clinical training in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and hepatology and a research stay as an Erwin-Schrödinger Research fellow at the University College London, she received her venia docendi in 2010. She established the “Translational Microbiome Modulation” research group at the Medical University of Graz. As a project leader at CBmed, she has led numerous successful initiatives. In 2021, she became the head of the “Translational Precision Medicine” division, where her team developed a microbiome modulation platform to explore drug-microbiome interactions. In 2024, she was appointed full professor of Translational Microbiome Research and Hepatology at the Medical University of Graz. She aims to impact patients by discovering novel microbiome-based biomarkers and treatments for chronic diseases.
