Riga Tawo is Scientific Director and Division Lead of the Diabetes Research group at CBmed in Graz. He is a dedicated developmental biologist who earned his PhD at the Rheinische-Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn, Germany. Fascinated by how multicellular comes to pass, he invested into researching various in vitro and in vivo models throughout his career to recapitulate development from single cells to complex multicellular life and to develop state-of-the-art disease models and cell therapy solutions. For that he deepened his understanding in stem cell technologies and tissue engineering in multiple disease areas by joining A*STAR in Singapore and later Evotec International in Germany. His research areas of expertise besides Diabetes include protein degradation & protein homeostasis in the context of aging and age-associated diseases and immuno-oncology.
