Abstract
Discover how a common liver medication could do more than just lower ammonia! In this study, patients with liver cirrhosis who took L-ornithine-L-aspartate (LOLA) for 12 weeks experienced a boost in energy and vitality, and those with high ammonia levels even stopped losing muscle mass. While LOLA didn’t dramatically change the gut microbiome, it showed promise as a supportive treatment to improve quality of life and muscle health for people living with cirrhosis.
