We are seeking a highly motivated
Scientific Researcher / Research Engineer (f/m/d)
part-time, 14 hours per week for 12 months to join an interdisciplinary project at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Clinical NLP, and Precision Oncology. The project focuses on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and investigates how large language models (LLMs) can transform pathology reports into clinically meaningful features to support personalized treatment prediction.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of an LLM-based extraction pipeline, the integration of pathology-derived features with structured clinical data, and the development of interpretable predictive models. The role is ideal for someone interested in research, scientific publishing, reproducible AI, and clinically impactful applications of machine learning.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Develop and evaluate LLM-based information extraction pipelines for pathology reports
- Design validation and quality-control workflows for extracted clinical features
- Integrate pathology-derived features with structured clinical metadata
- Develop and evaluate predictive and interpretable machine learning models
- Contribute to scientific publications, technical reports, and dissemination activities
Expected skills and abilities:
- Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
- Strong Python programming skills
- Experience with machine learning, data analysis, and reproducible research workflows
- Familiarity with pandas, scikit-learn, statistical modelling, or related tools
- Ability to work independently and communicate scientific results clearly
- Strong interest in research and publication-oriented work
